WHAT'S ALARMING
As of May, 2020, even as emissions fell dramatically due to the Covid-19 pandemic,, the global concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has reached 417 parts per million (ppm) for the first time in recorded history (from pre-industrial levels of 280 ppm).
Current CO2 levels are more than 100 ppm higher than at any time in the last one million years, and may be higher than at any time in the last 25 million years.
