WHAT'S ALARMING
While the country faces the overwhelming crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Trump administration has continued its work to overturn almost 100 of the rules protecting the environment established under previous administrations, particularly the Obama administration. According to a New York Times analysis* based, in part, on research from Harvard and Columbia law schools, the reversal of 64 environmental rules has been completed with an additional 34 in progress. These 98 regulations were established to protect against air and water pollution, carbon emissons, toxic substances and other risks to the environment and our health and safety.
The lesson to be learned is this: supporting government and leaders who are committed to the protection of the environment is critical to protecting our planet and addressing the urgent issue of climate change.
